Dear colleagues, friends, and students,
We are writing on behalf of Dr. YangQuan Chen’s family to share some very sad news. Our dearest supervisor and friend, Dr. YangQuan Chen, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 27th, 2026.
Dr. YangQuan impacted many people throughout his career and always pushed for research excellence. He brought a lot of wisdom and guidance to the Mechatronics Embedded Systems and Automation (MESA) Lab, specifically, as well as warmth and kindness to those he interacted with. It is incredibly hard to imagine things without him here.
We are keeping Dr. YangQuan Chen’s family in our thoughts right now. Please take care of yourselves and each other as we process this heartbreaking loss.
