ECHS student group visit to MESA Lab
On 10/25/25 Friday 3:30-4:30, MESA Lab welcomed and entertained a group of ECHS (El Capitan High School) students for a lab tour. The visit started by an assignments on counting how many drones seen in the lab. Prof. Chen introduced MESA Lab's main research activities and drone applications in three main areas: precision ag, environmental monitoring (methane, fire) and digital heritage (DH). Dr. Derek Hollenbeck explained his CMERI (Center for Methane Emission Research and Innovation) on how drones are used for methane localizaiton and quantification, plus why methane problem is a severe "death spiral" issue. Students were given chances for asking questions and freely roaming the lab for interactions with other ;lab members. Thanks you Carrie Kouadio for making this visit possible. The following lab members were in the lab during the visit: Rafal Krzysiak, Jesse Ramirez, Kenneth Furrer; Sachin Giri, Shiang Cao, Mohammad Partohaghighi and Thomas Zhao. A busy and fun Friday afternoon!
