02/17/2012

      • Dr. Chen feels that there is a connection to fractional dynamics http://rsta.royalsocietypublishing.org/content/369/1952.toc ;
      • Today Caibin  have helped us understand the Fractional Calculus much better from:
        •  Diffusion processs and its derivation from random walk under finite variance;
        • Distributed order that allows for better fitting and shaping of the behavior through each part of that diffusion process;
        • Fractional Fick Law that maybe useful in fractional description of density in relation to flux;

*************************************************************************************************************************************************************************

02/10/2012---with the help of Dan

      • We had a discussion presenting crowd dynamics from a microscopic behavior perspective, and how we can potentially use fractional calculus to model the differences, while eliminating computational complexities typically found in the agent based approach.
      • One concept discussed was the use of distributed ordered systems, with their properties of changing parameters against spatial change, see examples discussed in the paper: Variable Order and Distributed Order Fractional Operators;
      • We also cite some discussions involving fractional diffusion through porous mediums.
