MESA LAB welcomes two new visiting professors: Prof. Guimei Zhang and Prof. Xiaodong Sun

January 26, 2014

Dr. Guimei Zhang earned her Ph.D. in 2006 from NWPU, China. She is a full professor in Institute of Computer Vision, Nanchang
Hangkong University, since 2011. Her research ares are in

  • Image segmentation theory and method, including extraction surface defection using Otsu algorithm based on morphology and Wavelet transform, segmentation color image based on reconstruction labeling watershed algorithm in color space which can overcome over-segmentation affected by specularities and shadows, etc.
  • Partial occlusion Judgment algorithm and Depth Ordering algorithm in the Multi-object Complex Scene, and shape completion method of the partially occluded or broken object based on occlusion and human cognitive psychology.
  • Recognition theory and method of partial occluded or broken object, involved in recognition methods based on Singular Value Decomposition, local geometrical invariant, etc.
  • Image affine registration method, including methods based on LTS Hausdorff Distance and Genetic Algorithm, and based on pedigree clustering and contour feature point, etc.

Dr. Xiaodong Sun earned his Ph.D. in 2009 from Jilin University on "Study on Method of Harmonic Parameter Estimation in Chaotic Noise background". He is now an associate professor in the Department of Control Theory and Engineering,  Faculty of Communication Engineering, Jilin University, Nanling Campus Chang chun, Jilin Province. His research interests include nonlinear dynamics theory and harmonic parameter estimation in chaotic noise background; complicated dynamics and natural phenomena of chaotic signal, chaotic synchronization methods and critical information extraction methods. Most recently, Dr. Sun is interested in the theory and method of Fractional Operator and its Applications, such as fractional chaos system and fractional signal processing theory.

Both Drs. Zhang and Sun will stay with us for 12 months. Welcome to MESA LAB!
