Congratulations to Jinlu Han, Calvin Coopmans and Austin Jensen for passing FINAL dissertation defense!

Dr. Chen made a trip to Utah State University from 3/23/2014 to 3/26/2014 for the following defenses:

  • March 24, 11:30am-1:00pm, Jinlu Han.  "Cyber-Physical Systems With Multi-Uav Based Cooperative Source Seeking And Contour Mapping"
  • March 24, 3:00pm-5:00pm, Cal Coopmans  "Cyber-Physical Systems Enabled by Unmanned Aerial System-Based Personal Remote Sensing: Data Mission Quality-Centric Design Architectures"
  • March 25, 2:30pm-4:30pm, Austin Jensen "Innovative Payloads for Small UAS-Based Personal Remote Sensing and Applications"

Committees passed all, so congratulations to Dr. Han, Dr. Coopmans and Dr. Jensen!!

Dr. Chen also met Prof. Keith Christensen and Ph.D. candidate Dan Stuart on project http://laep.usu.edu/htm/research/evacuation-behavior "Experimental Research on Pedestrian and Evacuation Behaviors of Individuals with Disabilities; Theory Development Necessary to Characterize Individual-Based Models" and discussed CHASE and PedSim.

Dr. Chen visited WaveIPT.com and met Drs. Hadi Malek, Sara Dadras and Hunter Wu before departure to Fresno.

Dr. Chen got interesting reading material from Prof. Todd Moon (ECE Dept. Head of USU) entitled "The Volition of Intelligence" (25 pages).

Dr. Chen shipped two sets of AggieAir (4 boxes used in New Zealand Christchurch UAV flight mission sponsored by NSF RAPID grant) to UC Merced on 3/25/2014.

Dr. Chen met Joshua Viers at USU campus where he was invited to give a seminar. Dr. Chen and Dr. McKee had usual long early breakfast at Angies before leaving Logan.
